Metapan - Cojute 111-76

Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Metapan made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). His fellow American import point guard Leangelo Saravia (183-2001, college: Oakland City) helped adding 14 points and 8 assists. Five Metapan players scored in double figures. Metapan's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Dominican-American Francisco Alvarez (203) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and American swingman Shian Bradshaw (194-1995, college: Wake Tech CC) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds.

A.Lobos looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman Ajang Aguek (201-2000, college: Lander) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican Alejandro Quezada (195-1995) helped adding 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. A.Lobos' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and Nicaraguan guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds.

San Salvador - Santa Tecla 95-74

San Salvador made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. San Salvador outrebounded Santa Tecla 58-45 including a 50-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Salvador players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was a good game for Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Power forward Brayan Garcia (194-1998) contributed with 9 points, 23 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. Four San Salvador players scored in double figures. Guard Gerardo Rivas (182-2001) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Sammy Colmenero (185-1992, college: SF State) added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Santa Tecla. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Santa Ana looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 21 rebounds. Guatemalan point guard Lee Vasquez (173) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan-Colombian center Michael Hinestroza (210-1990, college: UALR) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Erick Rodriguez (179-2006) added 12 points and 11 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
